I came very late to the chalk paint party, I had some old furniture in the loft and wanted to sell it but it was dated and dull. When I was researching prices on eBay, I kept seeing 'Annie Sloan' on painted pieces so I did a bit of research and bought my first tin

The pieces sold but I was hooked; I had found a passion that could potentially pay for itself

A few years and a lot of painting later, it had become an addiction. I needed a space for people to see my furniture other than eBay; so Re-Created was born
I'm based in Hamble, near Southampton; no shop, no showroom, just a cosy shed in the back garden where I share the space with my office and two tabby cats

I went to school on the mistakes I made and have gone from basic painting skills to mildly adventurous but competent amateur. I buy old, unwanted pieces of furniture that look as if they might have potential and set about Re-Creating them
Older pieces of furniture are almost always made to a higher standard than mass produced modern furniture, that's why they've stood the test of time. They've had a previous life but my aim is to keep that personality and not make them look 'new'. There are some things I can't do but thankfully, I have a husband who is a bit of a carpenter so can repair most damage to the furniture I buy so you will get a sturdy and stylish piece of furniture
